Saturday we took a drive to Waimea Canyon.  They say it is the Grand Canyon of Hawaii.  It is also next to the center of the island which is the wetest place on earth.

Friday we went on a zodiac boat ride to the Napali Coast.  It was one of the best things we have done on the trip.  Dolphins swam right up to the boat.  We saw waterfalls, seacaves, and sea turtles.  The X on the side of the mountain has a story that is too long to put on this space, so when you see me ask me about it and I will do my best not to mess up the legend.

We were lucky to make it to dinner on Thursday at the Princeville.  It was the hotel's last night being open.  Spectacular views and a fabulous dinner.

Wednesday afternoon we landed in Kaui.  This is the view That evening from the beach infront of the Hyatt at Poipu Beach.....Beautiful!!!!

Our captain Patty...she was so funny and her crew was super nice.  The views off of the front of the boat.  And all of the under water pictures are to follow since we have to take that camera in to have the film developed.

In our little convertible on our way to Lahaina to have a little "Cheeseburger in Paradise"

Walking around the grounds at the Hyatt in Maui.

Really....we didnt go to the mountains - well, I guess we kind of went to the mountains.  This is Hawaii I promise.  The jackets came off as soon as we got back down the volcano crater.

The picture of Nate looking serious to the left is still pre-sunrise if you can believe it.  The very small bright dot to the right of his "keester" is the moon slowly going down.  The first peak of sunrise was a 6:06 am today.  It was AMAZING!
We woke up today at 1:30 am to catch a tour bus to see the sun rise at Haleakala.  (thanks Mike, you were right, it was soooo worth it) It is at 10,000 feet above sea level and freezing.  The picture to the left is the moon still bright and full.

We have been asking the local people where to eat so we can get some yummy musubi, or macaroni, or maybe even sushi.  The locals keep telling us to eat at 5 star places that we have at home in HB.  Well, we found this place called Sansei's.  It was discounted sushi for the first hour....and if you know Nathan and I we like our sushi.  This place was so neat, small and cozy set up in the grounds of the Ritz Carlton.  If you have a vacation planned soon stop by - very YUMMY!

We hung around our hotel today, went to the beach in front of our hotel, swam in the pool, and met some more new people.  So far we are two days into our vacation and having so much fun!  Check out my yummy pineapple drink - this is the life!

The Hyatt Luau was fun last night.  Met fun new people from the west coast and the east coast.  My camera is taking horrible pictures and is making me so angry.  Well, I'll keep trying.

We are off to Maui!  This is a picture from the air......so peaceful up here.
